Classical Music Could Use A Face-Lift...

Here at Monet MGM, we are constantly in search of inventive ways to make classical music more accessible to new audiences. So far, this effort has led us to working with only the most talented youthful performers and choosing programs that won't cause audiences to nod off during performances. But we know we could do more. We certainly are not the only ones with this goal in mind, as we have seen many innovative approaches within the classical music scene. (Some more creative than others.) But we aren't convinced adding chainsaw to an orchestra is the missing link. So, we ask you, the audience, what would make you want to more regularly attend a classical music performance? As Joan Rivers would agree, it's time for classical music to go "under the knife".

  1. I would be more interested in going to concerts that feature music from films such as "Star Wars"

  2. I actually attend many concerts, admittedly not many classical concerts. Mostly for me, it comes down to budget. I would be more likely to attend a concert if it was priced more evenly with jazz or rock shows. $50 is usually my limit, since I like to attend a show or two a month...

  3. I totally agree with the previous post. It's almost always too expensive for my tight budget.

  4. If I could go every week I would go to at least 1 concert a week , but as you said ... its not always affordable , but the spiritual food that I receive from concerts its really something that gives me more life .

  5. I would love to hear some of my favorite tunes arranged for classical instruments. For instance, how about in between works by Haydn and Beethoven, a cellist would play some Ted Leo? Or, even cooler, you could mix in some pop hits with the classics. Find a way to modulate smoothly from Mozart to Miley Cyrus, then back again! If you could pull off surprises like that, I would come back to see every show!

  6. If more classical music artists found a way to connect more with their fans, like the way other mainstream rock/pop/hip hop artists have, it would definitely help attract more people to concerts.
